Dural is a semi-rural suburb of Sydney, north west of the Sydney CBD and in the local government areas of Hornsby Shire and the Hills Shire. Dural is part of the Hills District.
History
Dural is derived from Dooral-Dooral, an Aboriginal name meaning a smoking hollow tree. The name Dooral appeared on Surveyor James Meehan’s map of April 1817 and originally covered the whole area which includes present day Arcadia, as well as Dural, Glenorie and Galston.
Transport Links
Dural is well connected by many bus services and although it has no railway station it is connected closely to the Castle Hill Metro Station and Pennant Hills railway station which can take commuters to the Sydney CBD.
Facilities
Dural hosts many indoor and outdoor sporting events and activities with a variety of facilities for soccer, rugby and netball to name a few. Dural also has a major shopping village at Round Corner in Dural.
